Applied Biology: Protocols

Subject guide for Biology

What are Protocols?

This page is designed to assist Kettering student researchers in locating the protocols they need from within the variety of available resources.

Protocols and methods are published resources which describe laboratory or experimental procedures. They are "recipes" that researchers use to recreate experiments in their laboratory. They provide predefined written procedural methods in the design and implementation of experiments including bias, safety, equipment, statistic methods, reporting and troubleshooting.

They are published in a variety of ways including as protocol-only journals or books, as occasional articles in journals, or more informally as papers available on the Internet.

Other Sources of Protocols

These are protocol books in Kettering Library's collection. The REF books are in the Reference collection, and are available for in-library use only.
