A how-to guide for downloading EndNote to your office or personal computer.

Getting Started

Due to overwhelming demand, Kettering University Library has purchased a site license for the citation manager EndNote. Each faculty member is allowed three EndNote downloads, in theory for an office computer, home computer and laptop. If you need a student researcher to use the software, that will count as one of your faculty downloads.

EndNote + Kettering FAQs

Kettering-specific FAQs:

Question 1) What happens if I get a "full version cannot be activated" error after installation?

Answer 1) This means you do not have full admin access to your computer. Please email the IT helpdesk letting them know you need temporary admin access to install EndNote. They will remote in to your computer and assist with the install.

Question 2) After three years, if for some reason Kettering didn't renew Endnote, what is the method of deactivation?

Answer 2) After the three year agreement, Kettering University would be presented with a renewal.  If Kettering University decided not to renew, then the agreement would end.  Users would be asked to sync their libraries to their online accounts (which they would be able to maintain access to) so that their libraries are kept intact.  The software will be advancing quite a bit in the next year and a half, so the results of cancelation have a chance of getting even better.  Bottom line, no user will lose any of their data!

Question 3) Is our current subscription going to get automatic EndNote software updates?

Answer 3) Yes, definitely.  Your users will all get automatic updates and upgrades!  The updates are automated (user can have the choice to update) and the upgrades are soon to be automated as well (with the same human choice possible).
