The Library’s SearchEverything Page which is located at the top of our homepage is the gateway to research! It allows you to search over 95% of our resources at once. Search for books, ebooks, journal articles, and more...
If you can't find an article inside Kettering's databases, you can request one through our Materials on Demand (Mod) service.
This service is free for students and faculty with a turnaround time of one to seven days, depending on the availability of the material.

The library stacks are available to browse by appointment. To schedule, email library@kettering.edu.
The library organizes books according to the Library of Congress Classification and call numbers.
Call Numbers A → PS are on the east side of the library (to the right when entering)
Call numbers PS → Z are on the north end of the library (directly ahead of you when entering)
You can also find Great Reads, New Books, Graphic Novels, and Reference books in different sections through out the Library.
Current faculty, staff and students can remotely access Kettering University Library online resources, but you may be prompted to enter your Kettering Authentication Service (KAS) login. This is your normal Kettering login and password. If you need to reset your KU password, visit password.kettering.edu.
To get started, head to the library's homepage (my.kettering.edu/page/library). Then click "Click here to search all Kettering library resources." From there, you will complete five simple steps to request your items.
On the page that opens, enter your search terms* in the Search Everything box. Hit enter on your keyboard or click the magnifying glass icon to the right of the search box.
*The Search Everything box defaults to searching only the materials currently available in the library's print and digital collections. So, if you're having trouble finding something please submit a Materials/MoD request form or email mod@kettering.edu, more details on MoD services are available here: https://libguides.kettering.edu/mod.
On the results page, click the limiter on the left that says "Physical Items in the Library" to narrow the results to only physical items KU Library owns.
To submit an item request, you will use your KU login to sign in. The sign-in locations are highlighted in the image below.
Once you are logged in, click on the title of the item you want to request. The page that loads will have an option for requesting the item under the heading that says "Get It" partway down the page. This will not be available to see unless you are logged in. Click "Request Physical Material Pick-up."
A box will open on the page. You'll click the down arrow next to "Date" to select a preferred pick-up date for the item. Requested physical items are available next business day (sometimes sooner). Once you have selected your date, click the green "Send Request" text below.
You will receive an auto-generated email with the subject line: "Loan Receipt Letter" from library@kettering.edu once the item(s) have been checked out. You'll then receive a separate email from Luxer with an access code and directions on how to retrieve your item(s) from the lockers to the right of room 2-202 in the Academic Building. You will have 7 days to retrieve your materials or they will be returned to the shelf and you'll need to submit a new request. When you're done with the material(s) they can be returned to the wall slot dropbox on the left of room 2-202 AB (and across from room 2-205AB).
You can check the status of your request(s) and your item due dates by going back to the library's search page. Then select sign in at the top right. If you're already signed in, click where your name appears. The drop-down menu will give you several options. To see what you have checked out and when it's due, click "My Loans." To see the status of your request, click "My Requests."
Professors often put citations for assigned readings into their syllabus. Library search systems don't recognize the full citation with punctuation so we have a special Citation Search instead. Here's an example of a citation you may be assigned:
Goodall, Noah J,PhD., P.E. (2017). From Trolleys to Risk: Models for Ethical Autonomous Driving. American Journal of Public Health, 107(4), 496. https://doi.org/10.2105/AJPH.2017.303672
Follow these simple steps to locate your article using only the citation information:
When you get to the library's homepage (my.kettering.edu/page/library), click the link "Click here to search all Kettering library resources." The page that opens will have a tab at the top called "Citation Search."
Using the citation from the first tab, we will fill in the blanks on the citation search form.
How it should look when completed and ready to be submitted:
Click submit.
Search results will appear similar to this. If you don't get the results you're seeking, please first check your spelling. If you still don't get your intended result, send an email to mod@kettering.edu and we will either request the article from another library or purchase access for you.
Sometimes you will see the same article listed twice (or more), which is normal. It just means we have the article available on different databases. You can choose whichever one you want, it will make no difference. Click either the title of the article or the "select item" button to open the article.
Once you click on the article of your choice, you will have options to either download or print the article. The article will look different depending on what database houses it, but you'll always have these same options available somewhere on the page. If you ever aren't sure, please email library@kettering.edu and we will be happy to assist you!
