Genesee District Libraries

 

Library Card -  All residents within the Genesee District Library service area are eligible for a library card. Persons living outside the Genesee District Library service area who pay property taxes to a governmental unit within the District are also eligible for a Genesee District Library card.

Flint Public Library

Announcement - The Flint Public Library is operating out of the Courtland Mall which is located on the corner of Court St. & Center Rd. in Burton while the main library is being renovated.  More information and hours here.

Get a Library Card

Full Service Card - Any resident of the City of Flint or the State of Michigan may apply for a Flint Public Library card. A current Driver’s License or State of Michigan Identification card must be shown. 

Applications are accepted at the Checkout Desk until 30 minutes before closing time. Please visit the lobby to fill out an application or download and print ahead of your visit.

E-Card - Live in a Flint zip code?  Click here to get an E-card. Live outside Flint, no current ID, or you’ve not yet updated your address? No problem! Visit the library and we can issue you a library card or renew your regular card as an E-Card temporarily until you bring in your ID. Your E-Card gives you access to library computers and all of our electronic resources available anywhere any time, including downloadable books, audiobooks and music. The only thing you cannot do with an E-Card is check out physical materials. This brochure can provide more information.   If you want to, you can bring a valid ID to the Checkout Desk and we can convert your E-Card to a full service library card at any time.

The Flint Public Library is located in the College Cultural Neighborhood at 1026 E. Kearsley St, Flint, MI 48503.

University of Michigan - Flint / Frances Wilson Thompson Library

Kettering Library has a reciprocal borrowing agreement with the University of Michigan–Flint called Academic Resource Sharing.  Kettering faculty and students are allowed to check out books in person from the Frances Willson Thompson Library. Search their book catalog here.

In order to use Academic Resource Sharing, the Kettering librarians will provide you with a signed ARS Card. Please see a librarian during open hours and request one. Cards are good for the entire term.

Databases + Articles

In addition to ARS, the Thompson Library has two public computer stations with access to their extensive database collection.
