Liberal Arts Databases

All of Kettering's Liberal Studies Databases in one place

Academic Search Complete

To create a persistent link to content on this database, you will open the resource you would like to share. Then, scroll down on the right side of the page until you see the "persistent link."

Once you click that link, it will open a new box above the title of the resource. Click the text in the green box to highlight, then copy. This URL will allow any Kettering users to access the material after signing in through the blue KU login page.

Using Academic Search Complete

The Academic Search Complete database provides access to over 5,000 full-text peer-reviewed scholarly journals on various subject areas, including STEM, natural sciences, social sciences, and humanities. The database also includes over 75,000 streaming Associated Press videos dating from 1930 to the present.

Searching and navigating the database is easy, with filters available to narrow your search results. Enter any combination of terms, title, author, etc, in the search box on the database's homepage.

The results of the search will have drop-down filters at the top of the page. These include:

  • All Filters (the filters below, plus databases, subject, thesaurus terms, publisher, publication, NAICS/industry, language, and more.)
  • Full-Text
  • Peer Reviewed
  • Source Type (academic journal article, magazine article, book reviews, newspaper articles, government documents, books, etc)
  • All time (date ranges)

Use the drop-down option to select whether you want to download a PDF of the article or read it in your browser. Note: not all resources have both options.

Clicking the PDF option will open a new browser window with options for printing, downloading, and more. The quotation mark icon opens a citation tool. The headphones icon will open the narration tool that reads the article to you. And the "Related Items" column on the right side shows other resources that have similar keywords and may be useful for your research.
