A how-to of the Kettering & MeL databases

American National Standards Institute [ANSI] Webstore

Using the ANSI Webstore

The ANSI Webstore is a great place to locate standards not included in the library's other standards databases (ASTM, IEEE, and SAE). The search is easy to navigate and includes 500,000 standards from over 130 publishers. Once you find what you're looking for, contact the library to request access, as we can often purchase single-user access for your projects.

Let's get started. Use the search box at the top of the ANSI Webstore homepage. You can search by keyword or standard number.

The results page will offer filters on the left side to help narrow your search. These are shown below and include:

  • Content type - choose Standards
  • Document Status - "Most Recent" should be selected to make sure you are viewing the current standard and not a historical version. Using historical or withdrawn standards is unacceptable in industry.
  • Content Provider tells which organization published the standard. There are 130 different publishers through the ANSI Webstore, so it can help you to narrow it down.

To get a brief description of the standard, click on the standard number.
