Users can browse by author name, by poem or short-story title, by poem forms or techniques, by periods and movements, and by themes in either the basic or advanced searches.
Now let's explore the advanced search option menu. There are many options available to help filter your search more accurately than a basic keyword search. Some of these options include full text, peer-reviewed materials, publication date ranges, subject searching, and even what language you'd like to locate your materials in.
If you scroll further down the advanced search menu, you'll find more filters to aid your search, as seen in the image below. These include:
- Poem first line
- Poem last line
- Publication type (journal, biography, book, essay, periodical, reference book, review, and more)
- Type of document (abstract, article, review, case study, dissertation, excerpt, and many more)
- Number of pages
- Images or illustrations
- ISSN
- Author's birth or death century
- Literary genre (fiction, long fiction, short fiction, nonfiction, drama, and poetry)
- Poet's cultural identity
- Poet's national identity
- Author's gender identity
Once you enter your search, the results page has several facets to look for/at when determining which source you want, which are noted in red in the image below.
- Filters on the left narrow results by full text, peer review, date ranges, source tyles, subject, and publisher.
- Tells you what type of item you are viewing. For example, the image shows both poetry files and short story files.
- Allows you to download the PDF from the search results (this can also be found after clicking on the title of the item for more information).
- Alerts you at the top right of the page when there are audio files related to your search.
