Using ASM Technical Books

Searching and Browsing the Database

Above is the homepage for ASM Technical Books. There are numerous ways to search or browse titles in this ebook collection. Let's explore, starting with a basic search. You can enter any terms or authors into the search to see what is available.


You can also view a complete alphabetical list of all titles in the database by clicking "TITLES" under the search box.


Clicking the "BROWSE" link below the search box will give you a complete list of titles with filtering options on the left side of the page to narrow your results down. 


To view an extensive list of subjects covered in this database, click "EXPLORE SUBJECTS" underneath the search box. Each subject listed has a breakdown of futher subcategories you can explore. Click one to see the titles that pertain to each subject area. 


Downloading and Reading Book Chapters

Once you locate a book you are interested in, click the title to open the page for more information, including description, ISBN, publication date, and tools like the citation feature.


Per the ASM Technical Books database, books cannot be downloaded in full, only chapters.

To view the Table of Contents, scroll down on the book's title information page. There you will see the individual chapters, view an abstract of the chapter, read the chapter in your browser, or download the PDF. Each option is highlighted in the image below. 


Using the Citation Tool

The citation tool included on the book's (or chapter's) page makes citing your sources easier. It automatically formats the citation for you so you can export or copy and paste it into your paper. Look for the wrench icon.


Once you click the tool icon, choose "CITE." It will produce a box with the citation information for you.
